TAMA WBSS55-MBR Starclassic Walnut/Birch 14"x5.5" Snare Drum
A Modern Hybrid Shell with Classic Starclassic Refinement
The TAMA Starclassic Walnut/Birch snare represents the next chapter in TAMA’s ongoing pursuit of innovative, musical drum design. After extensive research and development, TAMA perfected the ideal ratio of walnut to birch, creating a hybrid shell that combines warm, rich low-to-mid frequencies with the crisp attack and upper-mid projection that birch is famous for. This 14"x5.5" snare delivers a focused, modern voice that sits beautifully in any mix while retaining the iconic Starclassic character.
Balanced Tone with Clear, Musical Attack
With its 6mm shell composed of four inner plies of birch and two outer plies of walnut, the WBSS55-MBR offers a distinctly balanced tonal palette. Birch enhances articulation and clarity, allowing ghost notes and intricate patterns to cut through effortlessly, while walnut adds warmth, presence, and a pleasingly rounded low end. The 5.5" depth provides a fast, controlled snare response, making this model ideal for contemporary studio and live environments.
Premium Hardware for Precision & Stability
Fitted with 10-lug die-cast hoops, the Starclassic Walnut/Birch snare provides enhanced tuning precision, focused rimshots, and excellent projection. MSL-SCT lugs support consistent head tension and complement the elegant Starclassic aesthetic. TAMA’s MCS70A/MCS70B strainer and butt offer smooth, precise snare engagement, and the MS20R14S snare wires deliver sensitive, articulate snare definition suitable for a wide range of styles.
